History of Alpha Kappa Psi

Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional co-ed business fraternity founded in 1904 with the purpose of developing its members into principled business leaders and furthering the individual welfare of members during their time at college and beyond.

Alpha Kappa Psi adheres to five lifetime values: Brotherhood, Knowledge, Integrity, Service, and Unity.

  1. Brotherhood: Trust, respect, cooperation, companionship, and aid to members is the expected norm.

  2. Knowledge: Education and experience are emphasized and shared.

  3. Integrity: All actions, whether in business or in life, are guided by honesty, ethics, and fairness.

  4. Service: Sharing of time, talent, and treasure with society and with our fraternity is a priority.

  5. Unity: A common understanding of our vision and values that transcends chapter, generation, and profession is utilized to anticipate and create the future.

Originally founded by 4 men at New York University, the professional organization now welcomes all genders and has over 240,000 initiated members at 265 universities in 3 countries. Alpha Kappa Psi has grown to be the oldest and largest business fraternity in the world. With an extensive network of alumni, members become well-equipped to advance their careers and land opportunities at top firms upon graduation. As one of the best professional co-ed business fraternities, we are truly preparing our members for a life of success.

Beta Epsilon Chapter

The Beta Epsilon chapter was founded in 1928 and re-chartered in 2012 and is the leading business fraternity at the University of Chicago. Our chapter has over 90 members and a growing network of alumni. Our members represent all years and majors, pursuing internships and full-time careers in management and strategy consulting, investment banking, sales & trading, marketing, technology, startups, and more.

Through committee involvement, big/little family pairings, community service events, and weekly chapter meetings, our chapter aims to provide our members with a tight-knit social community, a professional and academic support system, and a way to give back to our local community.

Official Statement on Diversity and Inclusion

The Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, the premier business fraternity on the University of Chicago campus, is committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity. Our chapter is focused on developing, sustaining, and championing a multicultural workforce by supporting the professional growth of members from a diverse set of experiences, identities, and perspectives.

Diversity, inclusion, and equity are connected to our core fraternal values and are the critical drivers of success in business and life beyond business. As such, our chapter welcomes and celebrates diversity of cultures, backgrounds, and interests, and prides itself on empowering members to address biases, exchange ideas, and foster a safe brotherhood.
