UNITY CONSULTING

UNITY Consulting is AKPsi’s non-profit consulting program that provides members with the opportunity to engage with local nonprofits and develop real-world business experience. Each year, members who participate in UNITY Consulting complete a 10-week consulting project in partnership with a local non-profit. Projects can vary in nature, ranging from recommendations about strategic program expansions to devising and utilizing performance indicators.

UNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP

UNITY Entrepreneurship covers the basics of startups, UChicago resources to begin your own startup, and why members might be interested in starting their own business in college. Members can expect to attend weekly lectures and hear from upperclassmen who have experience starting their own businesses. Some of our student founders include Melody Li, Alex Pu, Yuki Yuminaga, and Yuyang Zhang.

UNITY FINANCE

UNITY Finance is a 7-week educational program that introduces underclassmen to both the “softer” skills of recruiting (emailing best practices, super days, networking effectively) as well as the technicals needed to succeed in interviews. Through weekly lecture series and hands-on workshops, upperclassmen share their knowledge to prepare younger members with the skills necessary to build a successful career in finance.

Each week, members attend a weekly technical overview session and have the option to attend weekly office hours hosted by upperclassmen mentors.

The curriculum covered by UNITY Finance includes but is not limited to:

  • Introduction to Financial Services

  • Enterprise Value, Equity Value, and Multiples, Comparables Company Analysis

  • Discounted Cash Flow: Building to Free Cash Flow; Weighted Average Cost of Capital & Terminal Value

  • Leveraged Buyouts & Private Equity

  • Merger Models (Accretion/Dilution)

UNITY TECH

UNITY Tech is a 6-week educational program meant to build foundational knowledge in relevant fields of tech and introduce members to potential career paths in tech. Each week, members can expect to participate in a weekly lecture and have access to upperclassmen mentors working in the tech industry.

The curriculum and industries covered by UNITY Tech include but is not limited to:

  • Excel basics

  • Software Engineering 

  • Data Science 

  • Quantitative Trading / Research 

  • Python applications
