Is AKPsi open to everyone?

Absolutely. Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity that is open to anyone who wishes to join. We welcome all years, backgrounds, and racial/gender identities, and we would love to meet you!

Do I have to be an Economics major to join AKPsi?

No, we encourage students from all majors to apply! Our members comprise of students pursuing a variety of degrees ranging from sociology, global studies, computer science, and even the visual arts. Candidates simply need to express a clear interest in a career in business.

What do I have to do to join?

Our Rush Cycles occur during the first week of Fall and Spring Quarter. You are required to attend at least one information session and two other events (non-info-sessions) as well as submit a written application. You’re welcome to attend as many events as you’d like to meet the Beta Epsilon chapter and get to know our core values and goals.

What happens after I apply?

The interview process is two steps: a first-round and second-round interview. The first round consists of a few five-minute behavioral interviews, while the second round consists of two ten-minute behavioral interviews and a group case interview. Once you pass these rounds, you will enter the pledge process. Pledging is an opportunity for you to see if Alpha Kappa Psi is the right fit for you, and for us to evaluate whether or not you have the qualities to be a successful member.

What does the pledge process involve?

Time, effort, and interest. During the pledge process, we cover extensive professional skills and soft skills such as public speaking and networking. Our programming includes interview prep, professional workshops, social events, and fundraising. The pledge process is focused on developing important, transferable business skills. Successfully completing the pledge process is determined by each pledge’s ability to manage time and work in a team setting.

If I pledge, will I be hazed or forced to drink alcohol?

Absolutely not. We have stringent policies against any and all inappropriate behavior and hazing. For details of our policies, ask us about our national regulations and codes concerning hazing, alcohol and drugs, and sexual harassment.

How much are dues?

Member dues are collected every quarter and are $100. Please reach out to the Vice President of Finance, Justin Kim, if you have any concerns about this. We will accommodate everyone to ensure that they can have a fulfilling experience as a member of AKPsi.
