ABOUT

Our chapter is organized into 5 committees: Finance, Professional, Social/Service, Marketing, Diversity & Inclusion. In addition to the 5 committees, we have an additional Pledge & Rush Committee for each recruiting cycle to aid the MORs in planning for Fall & Spring Rush. Within these committees, members work together in weekly meetings to help the chapter operate through a variety of activities like fundraising, hosting campus-wide professional events (e.g. Brunch with Booth), or organizing fun outings and study breaks where members can bond. Our committees offer younger members opportunities to gain experience in leadership roles and implement their own initiatives.

FINANCE

The finance committee oversees and manages our chapter’s finances. To ensure that our chapter has adequate funding to host events for our members, the finance committee hosts quarterly fundraising campaigns. Every year, the finance committee plans a semi-formal in the Winter and a formal in the Spring. Formals are an opportunity for members to dress up, socialize, and explore Downtown Chicago!

PROFESSIONAL

The Beta Epsilon chapter offers a variety of professional events for both fraternity members and the UChicago campus. Professional events in the past have included diversitypanels, resume/cover letter workshops, technical and case interview preparation, recruiting tips, and one-on-one mock interview sessions.

Additionally, we organize corporate information sessions and networking dinners with firms, many of which feature alumni of our chapter.

BRUNCH WITH BOOTH

Brunch with Booth is AKPsi’s annual flagship event that takes place during Winter Quarter. Undergraduate students are matched with participating Booth MBA mentors with diverse experiences ranging from consulting, investment banking, private equity, investment management, accounting, to corporate roles. Through 30-minute one-on-one coffee chats, students can learn about their industries of interest and gain a practical perspective on their potential careers.

SOCIAL / SERVICE

SOCIAL

Throughout the year, we hold various social events in order for the members to bond with each other both on and off-campus. On-campus, we hold study breaks especially during midterms and finals so members can take a breather from studying hard. Some members will even lead Zumba on Friday afternoons, and many will go to support their fellow members in on-campus productions like cultural shows or choir concerts. Off-campus, members have done a variety of cool activities taking advantage of the city of Chicago! Some highlights in the past have been Soul Cycle, Escape Room, and Restaurant Week.

SERVICE

Aligning with AKPsi's national dedication to service, Beta Epsilon requires members to be involved in community service throughout the year. On campus, we participate in other Greek organization's philanthropy events like Kappa Alpha Theta's University Cup and Alpha Omicron Pi's Alpha Games. We also volunteer in the greater Hyde Park community and beyond by participating in various service events in the year like running/walking in The End to Alzheimer's Walk and volunteering at the local food pantry and the Ronald McDonald House.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Our Diversity & Inclusion Committee spearheads our internal and external initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Internally, the committee works on creating a welcoming environment for all members through initiatives like the annual climate survey, Conversation Series: Mental Health in the Business Space (founded by Nadia Redza, Vicki Chen, and Kelly Zheng), and implicit bias training to improve our interview process.

  • Externally, our D&I Committee focuses on outreach initiatives to reach underrepresented students on campus, increase access to professional resources offered through the AKPsi network through our MasterClass series, and expand access to professional attire through the Professional Closet.

MARKETING

The marketing committee focuses on creating social media content, new merchandise, quarterly newsletters, and recruitment marketing, which includes designing the cover photo and promotional materials.
