FAQ
Is AKPsi open to all genders?
Absolutely. Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity that is open to anyone who wishes to join. Once inducted into the fraternity, all members are called brothers. Each member has equal rights and privileges and the word "brother" transcends its gender implications by representing and standing for kinship, fraternal loyalty, and friendship.
Do I have to be an Economics major to join AKPsi?
No, we welcome and encourage all students from different majors to apply! Our brothers comprise students pursuing a variety of degrees ranging from sociology, global studies, computer science, and even visual arts. Candidates simply need to express a clear interest in a career in business.
What do I have to do to join?
Come to as many of our rush events as possible, meet the brothers of the Beta Epsilon chapter, and get to know our core values and goals. After attending the minimum number of required events, you must submit your application by the deadline before being invited to interview with us.
What happens after I apply?
The interview process is two steps: a first round and second round interview. The first round consists of behavioral interviews, while the second round consists of a behavioral interview and a group case interview. Once you pass these rounds, you will enter the pledge process. Pledging is an opportunity for you to see if Alpha Kappa Psi is the right fit for you, and for us, to evaluate whether or not you have the qualities to be a successful brother.
What does the pledge process involve?
Time, effort, and interest. During the pledge process, we cover extensive professional skills, as well as soft skills such as public speaking and networking. We include programming such as interview prep, professional workshops, social events, and fundraising. The pledge process is focused on developing important, transferable business skills. Successfully completing the pledge process is determined by each pledge’s ability to manage time and work in a team setting.
If I pledge, will I be hazed or forced to drink alcohol?
Definitely not. We have stringent policies against any and all inappropriate behavior and hazing. For details of our policies, ask us about our national regulations and codes concerning hazing, alcohol and drugs, and sexual harassment.
How much are dues?
Member dues are collected every quarter and are a payment of $80. Please reach out to the Vice President of Finance if you have any concerns about this.
