Pledge/Recruitment News

Our incredible MORs, Tanaya Bhakat and Hosshini Suraj, and the Pledge/Recruitment Committee held another successful recruitment cycle. This quarter, the recruitment cycle theme was Travel/Homecoming and was held in a hybrid format to accommodate COVID concerns. We held 9 events including information sessions, in-person meet & greets, a resume review, a Diversity & Inclusion Panel, and virtual/in-person game nights. This cycle’s Diversity & Inclusion Panel featured Christa Velasquez, Director of Lumina Impact Ventures and UChicago Lecturer known for her Campus Catalyst class. At the end of the cycle, we welcomed 20 pledges, our Sigma Class. 

Professional News

Our Professional Committee was extremely prolific this quarter! This quarter, we held a joint Resume Review Panel with Career Advancement featuring two professional advisors and Xavier Pacthod (2020 AKPsi alumni) to provide insight into how applicants can best tailor their resume to applications in different industries. We also invited Eliot Weinstein, one of the co-founders of Cards Against Humanity, to discuss his experiences starting Cards Against Humanity and answer any questions from the audience. Lastly, we held an exclusive OppFi info session for AKPsi members featuring Nadia Redza (2020 AKPsi alumni) to help members learn more about OppFi and expand their networks are encouraged to attend as well.

Social/Service News

Social/Service Committee had a great quarter! We brought back the bonfire with the pledges at the Point to help our pledges get to know the members better. Another tradition that we brought back was Study Break in the Reg. Members stopped by the Reg to chill out and take a break from studying. Finally, seniors Yuyang Zhang and Kevin Liu held a Senior Lunch at Refectory Cafe, a campus favorite. 

Marketing News

The marketing committee welcomed their new committee heads: Laurina Ye and Riley Hurr! We continued to expand and refine our social media presence with weekly posts highlighting brothers, member accomplishments, and increasing engagement with followers. We have continued to create marketing materials for various events such as our Professional Headshots event and Masterclass. Lastly, the committee designed and finalized AKPsi bucket hats for the members, which was well received by the entire fraternity!

Finance News

This quarter, the Finance committee organized several important events for the fraternity. First, we put on a Professional Headshots event to fundraise, wherein we offered professional headshot service to the entire campus. Additionally, the Finance committee created the Finance Challenge for our new pledge class. Finally, we are in the process of coming up with more creative fundraising ideas such as Casino Night.


Diversity & Inclusion News

Fall quarter has been a productive time for the Diversity and Inclusion committee! We have once again put on our trademark Masterclass Event, with the theme of β€œBecoming a Leader.” We featured guest speakers Linda Ginzel and Alyssa Rapp. Linda is a professor at the Booth School of Business, focusing on business psychology and negotiations. Alyssa is an entrepreneur and CEO of Surgical Solutions and an adjunct Assistant Professor at Booth School of Business. Additionally, the committee has continued in finalizing a closet space in the career advancement office for the Professional Closet, so that the program can continue serving the entire campus.
